Every studio has a first day. Ours is the first day of spring.
On 1 September, Deja Studio opens inside the Millie Savage flagship at 337 Smith St, Fitzroy, for a six-month residency.
Collection 01: First Bloom is what opens with it, composed from what the season is bringing us earliest, arranged the way we'd arrange them for ourselves.
The Bedside starts small and low, almost like a miniature garden. For Collection 01: First Bloom, it's built from the first hydrangea and flannel flower of Spring, held in a ceramic Robert Gordon vessel on a stainless steel kenzan. It's made for the last thing you see before the light goes off, and the first thing you see when the sun rises.
The Kitchen goes the other way entirely. It's a mass of white gomphrena, round and papery, filling a 30cm glass hurricane vase. One flower, taken in generous quantity, given the whole kitchen counter to itself.
The Table gives you the option to add as many vessels as you need. For Collection 01: First Bloom, each set of 2 vessels features a mix of anthuriums, scabiosas, carnations and cymbidium orchids, set into 14cm and 25cm glass bud vases. Select from two at minimum and as many more as the table, or the occasion, actually calls for.
The Mantel is Deja Studio at its most abundant. The start of the season has brought us textural phylica, cymbidium orchids, flowering viburnum and banksia menziesii, gathered into a 30cm glass hurricane vase built to hold the centre of a room. The flowering of the viburnum is one of the first cuttings of the season and the earliest sign it's properly turned.
The Celebration rounds out Collection 01 and is our premium reflexed rose bouquet in either pink, white or red, and available in counts of six, eight, ten or twelve. Wrapped in recyclable paper with a compostable wet wrap and tied with a ribbon long enough to be reused at home.

It just pauses until the next one.
